A few things.

Hey, y’all! Great news- Jack is ready to graduate swim lessons! He can float when he needs a breath, and he will swim to the stairs and get out of the pool all on his own. Again, I am a believer in our survival swimming program {you can read more about that on my Dallas Moms Blog post}. It is amazing to see Jack go down into the water and come up and float and swim! We are so proud of him!

For Father’s Day, we bought Trey personalized Aggie license plates for his truck! We ventured downtown last week to the Dallas County offices to pick up the plates. I forgot the stroller, or we would have walked around a lot more because it was such a nice morning. I really do want to go back sometime soon and do a few downtown things with them, but now it’s TOO dang HOT.

I’ve been trying to get up earlier than the kids on my off workout days and spend some time in the Word. So, one day last week I was out of bed and on the back porch by 6:15am. And, I decided to forgo making coffee so I wouldn’t wake up the kids. However, just as I sat down to read my devotional, I started to smell something disgusting. Then I saw my dog. Y’all. Sweet Boots. He’s been in our family for 7 years now and we love him so, but he recently formed a terrible habit that is really unmentionable on the blog. All I can say is that he had to have an outside bath right then and there. Here he is after the fact. Doesn’t he look guilty??

After that drama, I still hadn’t made my coffee or read one word of my Bible, and then a sweet little girl poked her head out the door. So, then I decided to make coffee and grab the iPad for Chloe. I somehow managed to have a little time to myself {sort of}. Isn’t it crazy that we always set out to do something and many times the Lord has different plans? Hey, at least it wasn’t throw up this time :)

Last Friday and then again today we’ve had company! One of my former students, Hagen, came to visit. We’re so glad she did- she loves the kids and they love her! It is crazy to me that she was in my first grade class eight years ago and now she is going into HIGH. SCHOOL. Seriously?!

Well, we’ve been in the pool ALL DAY today because oh my word the HEAT. For now the pool is still refreshing but give it a few days and it will feel like a warm bath. Who’s coming over to swim this week?? We better enjoy it while we can!

A list. And it’s not Thursday.

  • I know, I’m making my Thursday list on Wednesday. That’s what the summer does to me- I get all my days mixed up. Here’s to no real schedule!
  • Well, I finally did it. I own a .com site that will now be home to this little ol’ blog. It’s been something I’ve wanted to do since I started blogging almost forever ago, and it is just finally time. So, I’m redirecting everyone over to my new {and permanent} blog home. Please change your reader to subscribe to the new blog- www.crazyblessedblog.com – so you won’t miss my riveting posts! Fun!
  • BTW, I have no idea what I’m doing by moving my blog over, and I’m doing it all without help. Do you recall that I am a Community Health major turned teacher?? This is way out of my league. But, I’ve been teaching myself as I go and it’s… going! I’m not promising an amazing website, y’all. Maybe soon I’ll get someone like these ladies to design me something great, but until then, it will be similar to what you see here!
  • Jack started swim lessons on Monday. By yesterday he barely cried and is already floating and swimming! Mrs. Tracey says he may graduate in only three weeks. This is HUGE because we went for four weeks last year and he never passed the float/swim test. So YAY for him doing so good in swim lessons!!
  • Speaking of swimming, we’ve broken in the pool this summer already. The ages of the kids this year is making pool time much more fun than the previous years, that’s for sure.Maybe next summer I’ll get to lay by the pool instead of getting in all the time. {and then I’ll be sad that they don’t “need” me anymore, right?}
    • We were supposed to have company last weekend, but Jessica’s sweet almost-two-year-old twins came down with all kinds of sickness including really high fever, strep and an ear infection. Poor momma and poor babies! I am so sad because we’ve been trying to get them to Dallas for a long time, but we will be rescheduling soon, I hope!
    • I went back to my old school last week. I was so excited to see my favorite class ever {I got to teach them in both 1st and 3rd grade} one last time. They just finished 6th grade and will be going to middle school, so it was my last chance to see them all together. They have changed so much since I left Henderson, and it really made me miss teaching. I was also able to go back the next day for a teacher reunion of sorts. I spent six years with some of the most wonderful people, and it felt so good to be back and catch up with everyone.
    • Confession. I’m watching obsessed with the Bachelorette. Y’all. I promised myself I’d never watch another one, and here I am counting down the days until Monday. Oh, the drama. My feelings have changed after each show, but right now I am totally Team Sean! Anyone with me?
    • Our summer tv plans {other than the Bachelorette} include watching Friday Night Lights on Netflix and going through all of our movies in alphabetical order. So far we’ve watch 13 Going on 30 and 17 Again. T’s already taken two for the team and next up is 27 Dresses! This has made me realize that a)I have a really sweet husband that is willing to watch these movies with me and b)We own a ton of cheesy chick flicks. That’s a win-win for me, peeps!
    • And, I have to post this YouTube video… I’m sure many of you have seen it but if you haven’t, it is THE BEST proposal ever! You have to watch it right now!

Hope you enjoy the new blog! Happy Wednesday!

sweet summertime

We’ve been filling our days with:

Swimming & yogurt pops

Birthday party-ing, barber shop style

Getting those first, sweet curls cut off :(

Father’s Day brunch at Tillman’s Roadhouse

And a lot of other fun stuff, too.

Oh sweet summertime! We are glad you’re officially here!

Mother’s Day and other updates

We had a great Mother’s Day! I hope you did, too. We had lunch with Trey’s mom and grandmother, and I wish I could say we relaxed some, but honestly I am too busy these days to relax! We did take a nap which was lovely.

After opening cards and gift (I got the stainless steel food processor that had been on the top of my list for quite some time, so I am VERY excited to put it to good use!), I spent some of the day finishing my student teacher gifts. We have 34 girls graduating and I made each of them a sign as their graduation gift. They were a lot of work but worth it! Here’s one of the finished signs:

I opened up a little Etsy shop just in case anyone else wanted to order a sign for a classroom, kid’s room, etc. You can visit it at http://www.etsy.com/shop/sherryclemens. I’ll hopefully add other stuff at some point, but for now, it’s just the teacher signs.

On Sunday evening, we went for our first swim of the season! BURRRRRR. I didn’t get all the way in. It was {quite} chilly. But Chloe, Jack, and T didn’t seem to mind. So, our pool is officially OPEN and ready for friends! Chloe was so excited. It’s been so hot, hopefully it will warm up the water and I’ll be able to actually get in. I’m ready for pool time!

I sure did miss seeing my mom on Mother’s Day, but she’s on her way here right now! She’s helping me get ready for BIRTHDAY weekend! Can you believe it’s here?? My Jack is 5 days away from turning ONE. This year has been full of wonderful moments and some tough ones too, and we made it through them all!

We have FOUR parties on Saturday- Jack’s, Mia’s, Owen’s, and then a baby shower! YIKES! It is going to be a very crazy day, but we are ready. Can’t wait to post pictures from Jack’s Flapjack party. It’s coming together and we are going to have so much fun!

Is it that time already? Yes!

I can’t believe it’s time for swim lessons already! Chloe started a couple of weeks ago. She was so excited to see Mrs. Tracey and get in the water… but then she realized she was going to have to swim and she got a little worried. But, we’ve been going for 3 weeks now and she is doing GREAT! She didn’t lose any swimming or floating skills that she learned last year, and she is already improving on her swimming. And, best of all, she is having FUN. I am so thankful that she knows how to float and swim. We’re going to have lots of great times in the pool this summer! Hopefully, if this weather keeps staying like it is, our pool will be open for business very soon. Last year we swam in May before Jack was born and we almost froze to death, so we’ll see if we get to swim before April is over this year. I definitely need to work on my tan before we go to the beach in May! The countdown is ON!
