The birthdays of the scarves.

So Krista and I talk pretty much every day. I told my husband this one day and he said “What in the world do you talk about every day??”. Oh, ladies. That’s the difference between a guy and a girl. He can’t fathom what I would possibly have to talk about, yet somehow we are on the phone at least 30 minutes a day, sometimes multiple times a day. Do you have a friend like that? One that will listen to every single small detail of your life? Because that’s what Krista and I do. We call each other to tell what funny thing our kid just said. Or because we read a blog post that we need to analyze together. Or because we want to know what to fix for dinner. And for a million other reasons.

We’ve been talking everyday for basically eight years- since the day we met at the new teacher orientation for Forney ISD in 2004. We taught next door to each other for many of those years, so it was just natural to talk about everything under the sun. She knew before pretty much anyone else that I was pregnant {I’m surprised T found out first :)} and we have gone through so many ups and downs together. Once we both decided to stay home with our kids, our conversations changed to daily phone calls and I just can’t imagine not having her in my life!

Our birthdays are two days apart, and since the beginning of our friendship we’ve always exchanged gifts. Krista is one of the most thoughtful gift-givers I know, always finding the perfect present. Well, this year we thought exactly alike- we both gave each other infinity scarves. Ha! Mine is a fabulous ruffl-y, gray and I can’t wait to wear it this fall! I got Krista an orange and cream striped one. When I picked it out, tons of outfits started running through my head. So, I made a few sets on Polyvore just for fun of ways to style the scarf!

Which one is your favorite?

I ended up buying Krista a mint tee to go with it, just like in the first set. I just think mint and orange are the best color combo! Now I need to make some boards to style my gray scarf!

I’m glad I have such a great friend in Krista, and it’s always fun that our birthdays are so close. My mom Facebooked this picture and I immediately thought of us! I can just see us on the phone 50 years from now…

Oh how I love to shop.

And guess where I get to shop for FIVE straight days with no kids??? None other than NYC! We leave in a month and I am so excited! Yes, we are planning on doing a few other things that don’t involve shopping, but man am I ready to hit 5th avenue and Soho! So, here’s a little huge list of things I’ve got my eye on. We’ve been planning this trip for a while, and we are staying for free {Marriott rewards points = sweet hook up at the Ritz!} and flying for free {thank you to Trey’s company for all of those airline miles he’s racked up to and from DC}. So, that leaves our budget for mainly shopping and eating!

New York Shopping List

Clearly I won’t be buying all of this! It’s just a list to help me prioritize, otherwise I’ll spend all of my budget on the first day! I’ve been eyeing a new pair of white jeans for a while now. That gold watch has been tried on many, many times. Oh and the flats, too. After traveling to the beach I realized I need a fun makeup bag. The mint-y striped tank is from Uniqlo- a new-to-us store we can’t wait to check out. And the coffee mug- I always buy a coffee mug on vacation to add to my collection. I broke my last Jonathan Adler one not too long ago, so I’ll be looking for a replacement. The wrap bracelet- I just love it! The Kate Spade earrings would be a nice happy-anniversary-to-me if I do say so myself. And, I’ve always wanted a cashmere sweatshirt {y’all know how much I love my sweatshirts}. So, we’ll see what I end up buying, but it sure has been fun browsing online and making a wish list for NYC! The countdown is on!
