A list.

No, not my Christmas list. That’s coming! Just a random list of things I need to tell y’all!

1. I have a new job! I’m still working at TAMU-Commerce, but I’m also now doing some social media work for a PR firm and I’m loving it. I’m busy, though! {so if there’s some lag in blog posts, you can assume I’m working :)} It’s great, though, because I can do it in the early mornings or evenings and it doesn’t take a ton of time away from the kids. And you know me, I love me some social media!

2. I got a house cleaning lady. Y’ALL. I had no idea my house could be this clean or smell this good! I am in h.e.a.v.e.n. She even cleaned my coffee pot and just making coffee is so much more fun now! My house has never looked this good. And it’s given me time to do some things that have been on the list forever- cleaning out the guest closet, working on a few projects, etc. As long as I’m working two jobs, she’s coming every other week. PTL!!!!

3. This is normally the week we’re in DC for Trey’s Christmas party. Call me spoiled, I know, but the last four years in a row we’ve been able to get away for a few days without the kids. I am really missing that time! I want to shop in Georgetown, hole up in a swanky hotel room and read a good book, visit a museum, and have my annual Georgetown Cupcake!!! His company changed it up this year and we are doing a Dallas Christmas party instead, which will be fun, but just not the same {obviously}!

4. Jack is really into Christmas this year! He will throw his hands in the air and shout “I wuv Cissmas!! It is so adorable. This all started when we got out all the Christmas stuff a couple of weeks ago. I’d pull out some decoration or stocking and he just kept saying, “I never saw Cissmas before!!” over and over. He is going to be so cute on Christmas morning! I can’t wait!

5. Both the kids are having so much fun with our new elf, Miss Glitter. Instagram has been the best on seeing new elf ideas! I search #elfontheshelf and there are always 100s of new pictures of what elves all over the world are doing. Today Miss Glitter wrapped our tree in toilet paper!

6. We have a busy month with birthday and holiday parties {and a Heisman watching party thrown in, see below}! First was a surprise party for Holly. It was at Bin 303 in Rockwall {yummy} and Keith did a great job planning it. He even ordered a fabulous cake from Society Bakery. So glad we got to celebrate with you, Holly! Happy 30th!

7. Johnny Football. Official Heisman candidate. Y’all. I am so excited! I can’t wait to watch him win. What a great season for the Ags! And the Cotton Bowl against OU should be a great game. We’d love to go but right now the tickets are $300 each. Ugh! Anyway, I’m so excited for Johnny and for A&M! What an exciting time to be an Aggie!

Ok that is a long enough post for now. Even though I have more to write, I’ll save you and wrap it up! I’ll be back soon with my 2nd annual Christmas wish lists. YAY!

Weekend Update

Last week FLEW by! Holy cow I cannot believe it is Thanksgiving week! YAY! All week I wanted to post last weekend’s update because it had some significant events. So, you’re getting two weekends in one. I know you are so happy.

Last weekend I met up with my college girlfriends Mikalah, Emily, Amber, and Laura. It was such a great time getting to see everyone, and I finally got to spend a little time with the newest babies of the group. We visited and ate at Joe T’s- a perfect mini college reunion!

This weekend we went on a double date to see Breaking Dawn. Yes, I’m a Twilighter. We’ve both read the books and I loved, loved the movie. I am just sad that I have to wait a year to see the last one. But, at least I know how it ends ;)

Today I ran 11 miles, even with a hurt back! I did the one thing I didn’t want to do before the race- get an injury! I was at my Thursday workout class and I just tweaked it. It has been very sore but it really didn’t bother me that much on my run today and that is such a blessing! The race is 2 weeks from today! I am so excited and thankful that it is almost here. And, a few days after the race T and I are headed by ourselves to Washington, DC for FOUR WHOLE DAYS. That mini vacay couldn’t come at a better time! Georgetown shopping {and Georgetown Cupcake} here we come!

We still have way too much candy around here.

We had such a great Halloween! Our friends the Dempseys came over for what we decided will be our new annual tradition. Everyone arrived around 5 and we had homemade pizzas {with Pioneer Woman’s yummy homemade dough!} and salad= super easy!

After dinner we headed out trick-or-treating. This was our first year to venture out in our new neighborhood, and we were excited to find that the street behind us was perfect! Chloe and Carter were so cute stopping at each house. Carter would go up to the door and say “Trick or Treat, Smell My Feet”! It was awesome. His mom had no idea he knew that saying, which made it even more hilarious. The babies {and I am totally still calling my baby a baby, even though he is almost 18 months} stayed in the wagon and enjoyed the perfect weather!

It was definitely a success because we had tons of fun and still have loads of candy!

Can’t wait to do it again next year, Dempseys!

You Grew in Our Hearts

Our great family friends Keith and Holly have started a new blog and I thought I’d share it with you today! They have two smart, beautiful girls and a handsome little man and are adding to their family by adopting from Ethiopia! We met the Greens when we moved to Forney and started going to church at Lakepointe in Rockwall. {Technically, Trey knew Holly when they were growing up because they were from Forney, but she is like a bajillion years younger than us so they didn’t know each other really well.}

Let me just tell you how much I love this family! Keith and Holly are amazing, God-fearing parents and we are so blessed to have them in our lives. Holly is my go-to friend when I need to hear the truth. She doesn’t mind saying what she thinks, and I love that about her. I’ll never forget one time we were in the car together and she looks over at me and says “Girl, you need to grow out your eyebrows!” Ha! It totally did not hurt my feelings because it was true and I didn’t even know it! They were waaaay too thin after a crazy wax experience at Beauty Brands and I never knew what to do with them! So, she told me all about what kind of eyebrows were “in”, how to grow them out, and what makeup to buy to help them out. I love that she has my back and will say stuff that no one else will!!

Keith is just such a great dad. He is complete hands-on and it is evident that he is in love with his three children! My kids love him too and whenever he’s around he is always willing to help out and often seen holding anyone’s kid that needs some love! Oh, and he’s also like the best graphic designer I know. Not that I know many, but if I did, he’d still be the best. One of his side businesses is ModVerse. Here is just one of many cool prints they have on their website, and $5 from every poster they sell goes to a specific charity. So cool!

I wanted to share their new blog with you today because first of all, Holly is funny and real, and you will love her no-holds-barred blog posts. Secondly, I am so excited to read about and share in their story of adoption! Go read their bios of themselves and their kids {they are hilarious} and then you’ll want to share in their journey too!

Love you Green family! So excited for your new journey. I can’t wait to meet your new little man!

Weekend Update

Praise the Lord the cooler weather has arrived! We have {finally} had a break from the 100 degree temps and we are loving every minute of it! We’ve been enjoying our breakfast outside many mornings. Jack is obsessed with the bluebirds that come and say hi. He will say “bu” (for bird) and “tee tee” (tweet tweet) and clap. We’ve introduced him to an American breakfast classic-  Pop Tarts! He LOVES them, but will throw a fit if I give it to him broken into pieces. He wants it whole and will even hug it when I give it to him. He is hilarious!

We went to a fun owl-themed birthday party today for sweet Emory who turned ONE! I wish I had taken a picture of the owl cupcakes that they made for the party- they were so cute. I love this family!!

Oh, the drama that is the SEC and the Aggies and stupid Baylor. Sorry if you are a Bear, it’s not personal, it’s business. And they are getting in the way of our business. The following picture was all over the Twitter this week. Although it is obviously photoshopped, it sums up the feeling among all Aggies these days.

We had a lovely date night last night after a stressful week, and tonight we are about to head to church. We are getting a sneak peek at the new sanctuary that will be our place to worship on Sundays for hopefully many years to come.

And tomorrow, the 10 year anniversary of 9/11. I’ve been in tears many times this week watching coverage and reading about that day and all that has happened since. I honestly can’t believe it has been ten years. I know during our church service tomorrow {which will be held in the new worship center for the first time} we will all be reflecting on 9/11. I’m already prepared with Kleenex tucked away in my purse :)

Hope you’re having a great weekend!

Meeting my newest “nephew”

I finally got to hold sweet Tripp tonight! He is home from the hospital and is doing so good. I waited long enough; he turned 3 weeks old last Wednesday! He is just about the cutest thing ever. Do you see that dark hair?! Oh he was so snuggly after his bedtime feeding… it almost makes me want another one. But not really. Why would I want that? I’ll just snuggle with Tripp when I need a fix!

After officially meeting the newest little addition to our crew, Tripp’s mom and I headed out for a much-needed pedicure. The last one we had was {together} the week before Tripp arrived. We have recently found our new favorite spot- Hawaiian Nail Bar! They stay open late (like midnight late, perfect for moms) and have all sorts of crazy pedicure options. Today I opted for the one called “Strawberry Margarita.” It was fab. I will say that at one point we thought Jenn’s pedicurist (is that a word? it should be.) was MIA, then she returned minutes later eating a sandwich. After stuffing the last bit into her mouth, she continues with Jenn’s pedicure with no wash of the hands or care in the world. It was a little strange. But whatever. We got some good girl time and my toes look exceptionally pretty for my anniversary date tomorrow night.

Among the many things we discussed tonight, one is sticking in my head. Jenn says that on their way home from the hospital with Tripp, Richard comments how they all of a sudden “feel old…like Clemens’ old” now that they have two kids. THIS IS SO TRUE. Having two in tow somehow puts you into categories like “we are our parents!” and  ”we are in this for the long haul!”  I’m not sure why having 2 kids makes us old, but it does! Well, welcome to the “old” club, guys. It’s not so bad.

Oh, and we talked about how we are officially a “Party of 8″. Can you imagine?

“Yes, seating for 8. 4 adults. 2 boosters. 2 kids menus. 1 high chair. 1 sling. Preferably in a tucked away corner. Oh, and a very, very patient waiter, thankyouverymuch. No, it’s not anyone’s birthday. We just want to go to dinner!”

Oh my word we are officially old.

Praying for Baby Tripp

Many of you may already know, but I wanted to get this out there for those that don’t yet. Our best friends Jennifer and Richard delivered a 7lb 13 oz sweet baby boy on Wednesday evening. After delivery, he was admitted to the NICU for breathing problems. Since then, he has been put on a c-pap machine and is still in the NICU. He is improving, but definitely needs our prayers! He is a big boy and is fighting hard. Jenn and Richard need our prayers, too. She is scheduled to be discharged tomorrow and we just pray that baby Tripp can go home with them!

Please join me in praying for this amazing family. I’ll update again soon, hopefully with pictures of baby Tripp!

Baby Ella is Here!

My friend Krista had her baby last week. Isn’t she just beautiful??!! Ella Grace was born Saturday, April 2 at 9:18am. She weighed 7 lbs, 15 oz and was 21 1/4 inches long! Krista’s delivery went great and they are home and doing well! Because Ella’s brother Owen and my Jack have been sick, I have not held Miss Ella in a week. That is way too long, but I know we have a lot of playdates to come now that Krista is staying home. YAY!

Wedding, 2 of 2

Whew. Sorry for the delay in blogging. We have had some major stuff going on…. My mom’s only brother, Skeeter, passed away unexpectedly a week ago and it has been {really} tough on all of us. I’ll share more about my wonderful uncle in another post, but for now please be praying for my grandparents Gwyn and Cecil, his wife, Debra, his four daughters and eleven grandkids, my mom, and many others that miss this Godly man! We know he is in a better place, but we are hurting.

A couple of weeks ago, I was BLESSED to be a part of my sweet friend Jami’s wedding. We have known each other forever; best friends through junior high and high school. We even got to room together for a semester at A&M, which was just SO fun. Needless to say, I love this girl and I am thankful that I was able to be there to pray in her wedding!

It was a BEAUTIFUL wedding, planned during her second year of medical school. She is amazing for juggling school and getting married, but if anyone could do this, it would be our Jami! Congrats, sweet friend! I am so, so happy for you!

Baby Ella’s Brunch

My sweet friend Krista is due with Ella Grace in just a few weeks! I can’t wait to meet that baby girl. I am thankful that the Lord has given me a wonderful friendship with Krista! We met the day I started teaching in Forney, almost 7 years ago, at the new teacher training. We have pretty much talked {or texted} every single day since then. After teaching separate grades for two years, we convinced our principal to let us teach together. We even sought out research to prove that friends working together is a good thing and gave it to him, and we proved that research to be true! We ended up teaching first grade together for two years and then both moved to third grade for two years. Krista has been there for everything the last 7 years- we’ve been through a lot together! Chloe and her son Owen are 3 months apart, so we’ve been able to experience all the ups and downs of motherhood with the support of each other. It was so hard last year to say my goodbyes at school, especially knowing I wouldn’t be seeing K on a daily basis. That hasn’t slowed our friendship down, we just talk on the phone a lot more! And, I am thrilled that she’s decided to stay home after Ella is born. I can’t wait for the playdates and adventures we will have together.

We had a little brunch at Breadwinner’s to make sure Ella had some girly stuff! She got the cutest bows, bow holder, blankets, etc! I am excited for Krista to experience having a little girl. She is such a good mom to Owen and I know Ella will be another wonderful blessing in their family. It’s been great that Krista had Owen so I can go to her with any boy questions. I’ll be the same resource for her on raising a girl- get ready for the drama, Krista!
