Reading List 2012: Update

Remember how I made a Reading List for 2012?? I said I’d read 12 books in 12 months— seems reasonable, right? Well, I’ve only read 7 and it’s September! AND, I added to my list and now have 9 more books to read before the end of the year! Yikes! We’re almost done with Friday Night Lights, so I’ll definitely have more reading time after that {hopefully!}. I really do want to accomplish this goal!

So, here’s the status so far:

See?!? I have a lot of reading to do! My favorites so far were Unbroken and Where We Belong. It took me about 90 pages to get into Unbroken, but then I read the rest of the book in just a few days! I LOVED it. Great story, great writing, and inspiring! Where We Belong is Emily Giffin’s newest novel. I’ve read them all and what can I say? I’m a sucker for chick lit. It was a sweet story and I can’t wait until she writes the sequel!!

Here’s a blurb about the rest of them:

The Glass Castle- Loved this book. It’s a memoir and that might just be my favorite genre. This book needs to be on your must-read list!

The Best of Me- Another great novel by Nicholas Sparks. It’s a love story like all of his books, and I was entertained throughout!

Summer and the City- My 2012 beach read. And that is just what it was. Easy to read, light-hearted-with-a-good-plot chick lit!

Two Kisses for Maddy- I picked this up at Target the day before we left for Vegas. Note: Do not attempt to read this book on an airplane with 200 strangers in close proximity. It’s one of those books that will make you want to crawl up into the fetal position and bawl like a baby. It’s a sad, true story. Why would I do that to myself? On a trip to Vegas? I do not have an answer for that. Except that remember, I’m a sucker for memoirs and the pic of Maddy on the cover sold me. The story is tragic, but I was most moved because written by a man who is incredibly lost. He needs Jesus. I can’t imagine going what he went through without the Lord. So, read it if you please, but don’t say I didn’t warn you.

The Jane Austen Marriage Manual- If it has anything to do with Jane Austen or Pride and Prejudice, I’m in. But this book was my least favorite of all that I’ve read that have something to do with Mr. Darcy. Sure, it was a cute story, but it was very predictable and justokay. Not great.

So, as you can see I have a lot left on the list. And I’ve already drafted a 2013 list, so these must get read asap! I’ll keep you posted!

The Secret Life of CeeCee is sooooo good! That was my first Diane Chamberlain book and I have now read every book of hers. I love her style of writing and that book is excellent. Reflection and Secret Lives are a couple of more good ones by her. Also, Night is very good as well. Enjoy!
