Favorites from The Pioneer Woman Cooks

If I was going to write a letter to Pioneer Woman, here’s what it would say:

Dear PW,

I’ve been reading your blog for what seems like forever. It is definitely my go-to place for recipes {and photography tips too}. Both your cinnamon toast and Dr. Peper Pork recipes have CHANGED MY LIFE.  I have tried many from your blog and cookbook, and I thought I’d share with my readers a few of our favorites. Thank you, PW, for coming into my life and changing up the Clemens’ family dinner. “More importantly I genuinely believe and have believed for some time now that we can be best friends. What do YOU think?” (name that movie!)

Sincerely,

Sherry

But I am not writing a letter to PW. No, that would be stalker-weird. But I do think we’d be best friends. Just kidding. Anyway, here are our favorites from PW. These are in no particular order- they are all AMAZING.

1. Pasta with Tomato-Blue Cheese Sauce

TPW_6080

If you’re not a fan of blue cheese, try this anyway and you might discover a new love for it. We both love blue cheese {have you tried the homemade Maytag Blue Cheese Potato Chips at Jasper’s??} so I knew this was going to be a keeper after reading the ingredient list. We add slices of grilled chicken, and it has become probably our favorite recipe these days. Yum!

2.  Cinnamon Toast The Right Way

TPW_6179

Y’all. If you’re not baking cinnamon toast this way, you are missing out! It is a breakfast staple around our household. Both the kids love it and we always have the ingredients on hand.

3. Beef with Snow Peas

TPW_8020

We just tried this recipe last week, and it will be in the monthly rotation from now on. I had never cooked flank steak, and now I want to find more recipes that use it. It was so easy and soooo yummy.

4. Ranch Style Chicken

Oh my word. Bacon and cheese on top of chicken? Yes, thankyouverymuch.

5. Spicy Dr. Pepper Shredded Pork

TPW_0195

Nevermind about the Blue Cheese Pasta being our favorite. It is definitely THIS PORK. Oh my word. Delish. Warning- only use HALF of the can of chipotle peppers {PW tried to warn me but I didn’t listen} unless you want your mouth to be on fire for the entire week.  This is because: a) using the whole can makes it way too spicy for me and b) you will eat on this for an entire week. It makes a TON. We used it on sandwiches, tacos, nachos, and rice bowls. YUM. It is the perfect thing to make on Monday and have easy, easy dinners for the rest of the week.

There are many more that we’ve loved from PW, but I want to hear your favorites. Are there any that I need to try??

Love PW. I have not tried much but those look awesome!!! Will try asap. The one thing we make almost everytime we have company is the bacon wrapped jalepeno thingys. They are amazing and gone in seconds. Try it!!

  2. Jennifer

Of course, her Marlboro’s Man Favorite Sandwich. It is really, really yummy. And then I like her Pasta alla Betsy (I think it is called). It is in the cookbook and is pasta with a pinkish sauce with shrimp. Very good and I craved it when I was pregnant with Easton.

  3. Kali Bailey

have you made her cinnamon rolls yet? i want to but i need to find people who want to make them together/share them-goondess knows I don’t need 7 pans of them (because I might eat them all myself and that would be bad!). i will definitely have to try a couple of these soon. we love her comfort meatballs and creamy mashed potatoes. YUM! and her chicken spaghetti and cowboy calzones were pretty yummy too! oh and steph has a couple of flank stank recipes in notes on facebook-you should check them out!

Lauren- I love reading your blog! I knew you were a big PW fan. I need to look back on your blog and try some that you have blogged about!

  4. KimmieB

I love, love, love Ree. I have driven my friends and family crazy talking about her blog for years and am so excited that she will have her own show on the Food Network. I, like you, think that we could be BFFs and I could just hang at her Ranch and cook all day. ;)

I have tried tons of her recipes and have loved just about every one of them. Something that stands out that people have really raved about, is Sigrid’s Carrot Cake. Some say it is the best carrot cake they have ever had.

Of course, that is not a dinner recipe, but we might consider it that at my house. ;)

I’ve been wanting to try the Beef with Snow Peas and I’ll make sure to do it now!

Ok, I know I’m late to the game but I’m about to start the Dr. Pepper Pulled Pork for the 1st time. We are camping, so I’m trying it in the crockpot. Can’t wait to taste it!!!
