Baby Kinsley’s Shower

I had so much fun getting ready for my college roommate Mikalah’s baby shower! This was the first big event to host at our house and it went off without a hitch! We went with a hot-pink and black theme and I used onesies to decorate. I took a risk and attempted my first “subway art” project to help decorate the table. It turned out pretty cute.  I sent it home with Mikalah after the shower so that she could use it somewhere in Kinsley’s room. We had chocolate dipped strawberries and pretzels, fruit salad, cookies, and cake. It was great to see Mikalah and my other college girlfriends. Baby Kinsley will be joining us in December. I can’t wait to meet her!

Isn’t she a gorgeous mommy-to-be?!

The cake- too cute!

The food table- including some yummy cookies (recipe below).

Hostesses- Amber, me, Alicia, Mikalah, Rachel, and Emily (also expecting!)

I got the recipe for these cookies from a birthday party recently. They are so easy and very yummy. Oh, and don’t let the orange peel and orange extract scare you- you don’t really even taste it. It just gives it a light citrus flavor.

Snowflake Cookies

  • 1 c. butter
  • 8 oz cream cheese
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 TBSP grated orange peel
  • 1/4 tsp orange extract
  • 2 1/2 c. sifted flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt

Preheat oven to 350. Cream butter and cream cheese together, add sugar and cream well. Add egg yolk, vanilla, orange peel, and orange extract. Mix well. Add flour and salt. Roll in 1 inch balls and bake on cookie sheet for 12-15 minutes. Let cool for 10 minutes, then roll in powdered sugar.
